Sensing Hands is the name of my healing practice. The name relates to both to the classes based on Tai Chi Chuan that I teach and my personal healing style – Dynamic Acupressure. In Tai Chi, Sensing Hands (Tui Shou) is the name of the exercise where two people help one another to develop. It can be either highly choreographed or free form, within limits. Both players use sensitivity and relaxation to understand their partner and themselves, in order to find and open areas of tension, and to learn how to direct and redirect the dynamic flow of energy between each. This is virtually the same in Dynamic Acupressure, the difference being that in the Dynamic Acupressure it is a therapeutic setting, the practitioner uses Ting Jin to”listen” to the client who will indicate areas of imbalance. The practitioner will then help release blockages, and direct and redirect the flow of energy in the client to help restore a healthy state. To do this the practitioner must be highly sensitive to the client to feel the movement of energy within the client; direct contact between the client and practitioner is primarily through the hands.
